This wonderful stained glass window panel is reminiscent of the old yard long paints that hung over the doorway in old houses with tall ceilings which pictured birds sitting together on a wire or branch. However, there are major differences between these painting and this panel. Yes, the panel is made of stained glass and hangs in front of a window rather than over a doorway; but the main difference is the old paintings are in frames while this window panel has no frame; the panels consist of only the birds themselves. The scene is framed by the window in which it is hung. Artisans have used many colors of stained glass to form these birds orange, white, brown, purple, burgundy, turquoise and green; some of these pieces of glass are textured to mimic bird feathers. It is fun to sit in from of this panel and try to identify the many different types of birds that are on display.
